For me, art is always a kind of search: for the optimal
composition, for a good motive, for the best picture. The aim is
attained when the work of art speaks for themselves, hopefully clear
and powerful.
The following quotation of Paul Greenberg characterizes
a familiar view for me: “I take a very simple approach to making
photographs: I document what I see. Nothing in my photography is
planned or manipulated. I’m not interested in inventing a new view
of seeing. My intent is to nurture and preserve a very important
photographic exercise – the documentation of life on the street.”
and “I’m looking for something I can translate into a photograph.”
